About the Doctor
Dr. Derek Straffon has been creating beautiful smiles since 2001. He attended Indiana University for his undergraduate studies and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1998. Following four years of dental school, Dr. Straffon attended three years of specialty training, learning the science of orthodontics exclusively. By completing this advanced education program, he learned the special skills required to manage tooth movement and guide facial development. He received his Master’s of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan in 2001.
A published author and public speaker, Dr, Straffon is a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Colorado State Orthodontic Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society and the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists. His professional awards include:

An active member of the community, Dr. Straffon has volunteered his time with the Katrina Relief Fund, the Denver Area School Silent Auction and serves as a board member for Southmoor Elementary. Away from the office, Dr. Straffon enjoys triathlons, mountain and road biking, running, swimming and windsurfing. He is also an avid skier.
